Talk of extreme weather events is on almost everyone’s mind these days. And rightfully so. According to a United Nations report, “climate-related disasters jumped 83 percent — from 3,656 events during the 1980-1999 period to 6,681 in the past 20 years”. Significant flooding has more than doubled. One doesn’t have to look back for more than a few months to find evidence that droughts, wildfires, and heatwaves are rising. We’re experiencing the mayhem!

At Baron Weather, we’re not just talking about extreme weather events. Our people are sharing their expertise to educate business and government leaders globally on how weather technology can help.

In a recent article in Meteorological Technology International (MTI)1 Baron Weather Vice President of Integrated Weather Systems, Jon Tarleton discusses how sophisticated models take advantage of real-time radar data to help improve flood detection and facilitate actionable insights for more informed decision-making.
